I was just so thrilled to read this article in the News Herald about the Aktion Club started by the Wyandotte Kiwanis clubs - notably Barb Duran! The club is for adults with disabilities to participate in community service projects. www.thenewsherald.com/articles/2009/06/04/news/doc4a257568a01f1848557686.txtKudos to Barb and the Kiwanis Club for helping citizens with disabilities to truly be part of our community!

Thanks Terey & Sharrie, I enjoy working with these young adults; they are so eager to be involved in the community and I love that Kiwanis gives them that opportunity.
Kiwanis has community service arms for all groups, starting with elementary school (K-Kids), middle school (Builders Club), High school (Key Club), College level (Circle K) and the disabled (Aktion Club). Our club sponsors 3 of these service leadership groups and we love being involved with the kids and showing them how community service is a huge part of our lives as human beings and we should ALL be participating in helping others before we help ourselves. Remember, GIVE TO GIVE and it will come back to you ten-fold.
Anyone interested in checking out the Kiwanis Club and enjoying a complimentary breakfast....we meet every Friday morning from 7-8am at the Wyandotte Big Boy, corner of Biddle Ave and Eureka. Come and see what we're all about...
If you are not a morning person, there is another Kiwanis club in Wyandotte that meets at noon on Tuesdays at Polonus on Biddle Ave. There are also Kiwanis clubs (most meet mainly in the evenings) in Allen Park, Grosse Ile, Flat Rock, Monroe, Riverview, Trenton, Southgate and Woodhaven.
Call me if you want more info on any of the local Kiwanis clubs.
