Did you know that Michigan now has an estimated 40% of drivers that are without auto insurance of any kind? It's understandable in today's economy I suppose. But what if you are involved in a serious accident with one of these uninsured or underinsured (only carry minimum limits) drivers?
Yes you have no fault benefits, but what if it's serious enough to warrant a law suit against the other driver, and that driver has minimal limits or no limits of liability? Your own policy can protect you under the section Uninsured and Underinsured Liability. Your limits on your auto policy should be at least equal to the limit of liability you carry to protect a third party.
This is not an expensive coverage to protect you and your family. Check with your agent today, to make sure you have BOTH Uninsured and Underinsured Liability and that those limits are the same as your Bodily Injury Liability limits. Make sure you have the protection you think you have.
