Ran into a member today, while at the Firehouse doing webwork. I was very peaceful watching a little CNN, sipping tea, watching a youtube video at the same time, just chuckling. This member asked a simple question "Kevin How Do You Handle Stress? seems like you have enough of it, how do you do it?" Made me think for a second, told her too much to talk about now, but read the board later and you will have my answer.
How I handle stress.......... In no specific order.
No problem is as big as it seems, and every problem can be figured out.
It is true that small fires lead to bigger fires, put out smaller fires ASAP, but understand what needs to be burned down. Then let it burn itself out.
If you want more pay you need more responsibility, if you do not want responsibility or can`t handle it, you don`t deserve to get paid more.
Have six months of living expenses set aside, you then will have peace of mind. If you do not, you should not stop working till you do.
If you have to take from Peter to pay Paul, pay Paul back promptly.
Don`t worry about your competition, keep on doing the right things for clients and yourself and you clients will handle your competition for you.
Play as hard as you work. If you don`t, what`s the point of all the work?
Remember poor planning leads to poor decision making.
Speak your mind, be honest and do this more often than beating around the bush and lying. It`s easier on your mind to remember the truth.
I know if something is too expensive for the moment, in that case I do not think about a purchase at that time. Saving for something expensive is fun and makes it so much better when you get it, and most of the time the price went down.
I do not believe in last chance offers, and do not buy into them. There is the same item pretty close to what you planned on purchasing somewhere else.
Understand it takes money to make more money, but alot of money can be made if you work hard and save.
I believe there is nothing in the civilized world you can not get overnight, hold your suppliers of what ever you want to the same standard.
Have your attorney on speed dial, your not a legal professional and do not claim to be. When it comes to legal matters have them looked into. If it comes to an unfair act. If someone has really wronged you he/she your attorney will tell you. It costs you nothing for a good attorney, they get the money from the person that wronged you.
Have any agreement of major consequence on paper in writing so you and the other person knows where they stand, a handshake does not cut it anymore.
Don`t be the smartest in the room, being dumb, sincere an compassionate goes along way.
Don`t try to re-invent the wheel, alot was accomplished in this World before you were born, just try to make the wheel better.
Whatever you enjoy do, if you want to smoke, eat junk food, drink, do drugs, it`s your life to enjoy or ruin. Remember there are advantages and disadvantages to every decision.
There are consequences to every action, know the consequences before you do the action.
Someone is always willing to do the work you do not want to do, and most of the time they enjoy it, ask yourself if your time is more valuable than that task. If so pay someone to do the task.
Tell 10 people a day about your business, can be via phone, email, standard mail, networking, its all in the numbers 10 a day will keep you busy.
I ask myself daily, what can I do to make someone else happy, and do it, ask myself daily what can I do to make myself happy, and do it.
So a good list to start with, surely I`m missing something anybody else reading. How do you handle stress?
