From Women's Health Magazine June 2008 (Paraphrased. ..)
Question: It is difficult for me to swallow pills/supplements - especially when they are large. What can I do?
Answer: Yours is a common problem. Two in five adults have trouble getting down their medications and/or supplements. ..
The next time you are faced with this situation, try this trick:
Take a few deep breaths to help relax the throat muscles.
Place the supplement or medicine at the tip of your tongue.
Take a mouthful of water - but don't swallow!
Instead of leaning your head back, tilt it forward, toward your chest.
The pill will rise to the top of the water within your mouth toward the back of your tongue.
Now swallow!
In this position it will wash down more easily.
