Do you have an inspirational story of how owning your own business has made a dramatic improvement to your life?Next week is National Small Business Week and I am working on a segment for the Grow Your Business Workshop (next Wednesday, April 23, 8:00-10:00), in which I would like to have a few business owners who have a unique story tell about how owning a business has made a difference in their lives and how it has helped them to: - achieve specific dreams or goals.
- overcome difficulties.
- live a desired lifestyle.
The stories I am looking for should be compelling, motivational, and inspirational. We want to let people know how important small business is to our country, to our state, to the Downriver area, and in our own lives. The United States of America is the "Land of Opportunity" and we can make a difference in our community if we work hard and take responsibility for our own future. If you think you have a story to tell, please let me know either by telephone or e-mail as soon as possible!

Nobody's life has been changed by owning your own business? This is your opportunity to tell us about it!

Mark, Leanna has a great story to tell. I believe she is getting a lot of work done, despite her broken ankle. The wonders of working from home. She even made Jim Beri look brighter wearing his new 'Bronni Vision' specs. Blessings, Linda

Yes, it's true! I broke my ankle playing indoor soccer about a week and half ago. The ball was flying my way in mid air and I put my foot up to stop it and I did...I stopped that ball with my ankle and it broke it. I don't know how inspirational my story is, but I am able to still work, though I take frequent breaks to put my foot up. It's a huge blessing to be able to work from home because it's my right ankle and I can't drive, so having a 9-5 job would be impossible. To respond more to Mark's original post, I have to say that when I opened my business 10 years ago, my goal was to be able to contribute to the family finances, while being an active parent to my then unborn kids. Ethan just turned 9, Owen is 7 and Simon is 5. I've worked in their classrooms, been able to pick them up from school when they get sick and am home almost everyday when they get off the bus. Along the way, I've achieved more than I ever imagined in terms of relationships through my business. Some of my clients have become dear friends over the years. Additionally, I've developed wonderful personal relationships with other small business owners. These are relationships that I cherish. Thanks for the compliment, Linda - it was my pleasure to help Jim change his look a bit.

Yep, and if you had come to the meeting at the Ground Round you would have seen her propped up and holding court like a beautiful Royal Networker. Maybe she would have granted you privilige to sign her ORANGE cast. ***Disclaimer: The Glow of HER Inner Beauty, not just the Beautiful Bronni Vision Glasses show us that Leanna is much prettier than this cartoon.*** Blessings, Linda

Should have used your head and your Bronni Specs would have deverted the ball and save you from breaking your ankle.
Wish you well and have a speedy recovery.

See...I told you Leanna had a great story. She could be one of the speakers Mark.
My story is that I now help people differently and give them a better chance to heal and get healthier than I did when I was a staff nurse.
(Have you noticed that very few people are healed through the medical system?)
Blessings, Linda

Hey Keith - I did hit the ball with my head a couple of times...great fun! Thanks for the well wishes! It felt weird to be at the meeting and not get up and mingle! I guess "holding court" is a nice way of spinning it, Linda. It was great to get out of the house and see my Dadba friends and to meet a couple new friends as well.

Leanna, I agree with Linda that you do have a great story to tell! I know it would be difficult to make it, but we would love to have you at the Grow Your Business Workshop on Wednesday morning.

I think your event sounds fantastic! I'm hoping to be able to get a ride so that I can attend! As a DCFCU business banking member, I get in free, right???
