Headed downtown last night to the Fisher Theatre to see Whistle In The Wind. It has probably been 20+ years since I been there. Last time was when I was a kid to see the play Annie on a school field trip. I was awestruck as a kid at the architecture, now looking at it again. I have the same feeling but more of a respect goes along with it, as I understand the financial commitment along with the hard labor it takes to complete such a task.
If you do not remember the Fisher. I suggest you take another look. They have attached parking now. Go to remember the 50ft marble walls, marble floors, gold trim everywhere, mosaic ceilings. It is a sight to see and remember. Don`t miss it.
Something really caught my eye though last night entering the Lobby to the theatre itself. The American Flag dead center at the entrance. It really caught my attention because as we were entering a hoity doity couple in front of me pointed it out, and said. "Can`t believe they put it there, Look it doesn`t match"
I bit my tongue, and wanted to keep good spirits as it was a Christmas gift going down there for the play. It was kinda eating at me though. So at the intermission, I had my chance. Laura went to the restroom. I went outside. Luckily the couple was outside also. I was very polite. Are you enjoying the Play?
They answered with "Smiling, Oh yes it is wonderful" I answered with: "It was an amazing first act in an amazing building, the decor is absolutely incredible, and our American flag there in the lobby. I don`t know who the decorator is, but he/she is a true genius to hang it there. It symbolizes everything we stand for, along with the freedom to enjoy the play in a safe and secure environment" They stopped smiling.
I then bidded them enjoyment for the remainder and went on my way. The second act was absolutely far better than the first.
Sundays Business Tip: I think it is important. Does the business your dealing with display the American Flag? If they do not have a flag pole, or a flag pole visible to all. Do they have the American Flag on display in their building. If they tell you it wouldn`t match their decor. You tell them it is not supposed to match and their business does not match your dollars.
