Tough Times Come and Go, Tough People Stick Around Michigan`s job losses, distressed real estate market and falling population is only going to get worse. 7.7 percent unemployment, highest city crime in Detroit. I don`t know how many times I hear in a week. "This economy is terrible, this economy sucks, it`s the governors fault, nobody is buying right now." There is that time when your in the middle of a storm, might be a thunderstorm, might be a snow storm. That is where we are right now. The waiting process. Unfortunately this storm will not end till 2009, 2010 maybe 2011, if not longer. So this being the inspirational section, how can I make this inspirational. There has been tough times before. I took devastating losses after 9/11 probably 75% of my business and assets. I have a philosophy created some time after. I do not rely on one person, one customer, one business, one business sector, one state, one country for my income. DIVERSIFY-The light at the end of the tunnelIf things are bad here, they are really good somewhere else. The power of the internet allows you to be in several places, states, countries at a different time. Now is the time for creative thinking, all day strategy sessions and advanced planning. The New Year 2008 is very close upon us. It is time for brainstorming. Once again Tough Times Come and Go, Tough People Stick Around! Were in a storm and the house is shaking. You either get out of the house, or you get the candles out, reinforce the walls and wait out the storm. Now is a good time for some reinforcement. You have to build up strong relationships with other local business owners and your current customer base here in Michigan. You have to make strong contacts here at DADBA. Secondly you have to have something going on in a global fashion so you are not concentrating and depending solely on the Michigan economy. Will it take some time to develop your strategy and develop your program? Yes! Will you have to work more? YES!Take the time to do so. Start this weekend. You are a tough person and you can weather this storm. You are a smart person that can make quality decisions for yourself and business. You will see times worst than this. Planning now will save you any unwanted burden in the future. Even if you think your business is doing well now. Please hear my advice and start planning for rougher weather ahead. Tough Times Come and Go, Tough People Stick Around Proper planning and extra work now. You will look at the next storm as merely a windy day. Want some help with a plan. Wow! Kevin, Way to Go!
Here is my daily goal statement: "I'll do today what others don't, to have tomorrow what others won't."
That's the statement I say every single morning. It's what's kept me going through the storms. But because of the critics and the naysayers and those around me who do not help me, I have recently added to it. Now I say: "I will do today what others don't, to have tomorrow what others won't, ...and if it's going to be it's up to me."
I take that to heart and have started on a new path out and away from the 90+% of the people who want to be average and joined the 10% who want more freedom and who are willing to work for it but also want to help others do the same.
I find many of these like-minded people in DADBA. We are unique in that we want to help each other as we grow. AWESOME!!
Dr. Shaklee used to say "Do a little Shaklee every day and you will be rewarded beyond your expectations. " I say, like Fred Flintstone would say: a little daba daba do -- DADBA every day and we will all weather the storms and exceed our success expectations.
Blessings, Linda

You go Kevin, from your #1 fan...and on this note as Laura and I just returned from a very inspiration prayer breakfast, which by the way I know we should not talk about religion, political or orientation... That being said I am the first to admit I am have not been and still am not the perfect candidate for sainthood but I hope to set an example thru how I operate my business, raise my children and treat my husband and help my community for no other reason that it is what should be done.....What I got out of that breakfast, besides sharing some food, stories and music with 1000 other downriverites this morning is profound and goes right along with what Kevin has been saying....there is nothing new about the economy, the war, the people except for how we all react to it. The main speaker indicated she was terrified to raise 3 kids in the 70's, there was an war, everyone was out of job and people were just doing terrible things to each other. Funny I had the same thought as I brought my millenium baby into the world and pondered, how can I raise my children in this terrible economy, with all this evil and war filled world. We all have the same (sort of) experiences, ups, downs, laughs, misery and sadness, it is how we react to them in our personal and business lives that will change the world, or least our downriver community. That's all I have to say about that..any body have a box of chocolates?

I couldn't agree with you all more.... There is no such thing as luck in business, it is what you make of it and what you put into it. Kathy, thank you so much for the invitation to the prayer breakfast this morning ~ it is always nice to have someone put things into a positive perspective for you!
All of us in this group are fortunate on so many levels, we all have each other to help with one another's business, but most importantly the friendships that are developed simply by supporting one another!
So chins up FRIENDS AKA DADBA Members!!!! For us there will always be a tomorrow!
