Did a lot of jobs today. This is the peak of my season. Everyone wants something before the Holidays and New Year. We did more work in a 24 hour stretch, then most services in our area do in a week. Coming back from an account today in Royal Oak I decided to take Woodward back to Downriver instead of Southfield Fwy, Went through the heart of Detroit, the outer slums, boneyards and wasteland of burnt down buildings and abandoned areas.
Saw the homeless and people on the corners waiting. Waiting for their life to get better. Sometimes when I have huge days, big money days. Ill take this route. It just confirms to me how good I really do have it. So many people without a job, desolate and no chance of ever getting out of the situation there in.
Fortunate in more ways than one, I always tell myself. I have good health, a career that I enjoy, some money in the bank, and a roof over my head. I remember when I first started business $58.00 dollars a day was the goal. That would pay my bills and a little extra for some fun. Hard work, determination, and being the first to take advantage, of an advantage was my attitude.
Now its more like what else can I do to help. Stopped at a light a homeless man came to the van, started washing the window. Before he finished.. I gave him a $50.00, I know it will be used on boose or drugs, but whatever makes him happy, Its his choice now. I will be the first to admit I have been very fortunate, luck seems to be on my side in all situations. I guess what I'm trying to say is when you do work hard, and when you get to the point in your business that no matter what happens, it will continue. Remember there are many people that will never get the chance.
Be humble, give a little back and show respect, but keep on moving forward.
