There are a few downriver communities that have a fire truck equipped with canine and feline oxygen masks. Unfortunately, not all trucks - and not all cities - are equipped. These sets are made to handle a dog as large as a St. Bernard right down to something as small as a bird.

What if tragedy struck your home, your pet needed help and the wrong truck showed up? The truck NOT equipped with a pet oxygen set?

That's where we hope to help.

Companion animals of Downriver will get a second chance of survival at a fire with the use of the new equipment.

Obedience Dynamics is hoping to raise money to equip every single fire truck in every single downriver community with SurgiVet Animal Oxygen Mask sets. These are the same masks that H.E.L.P. Animals, Inc. donated to USAF / NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Their EMS, Fire & Rescue Emergency Response Service and K9 Unit were presented on June 22, 2005.

Donations can be made by individuals or businesses.

All donors will be recognized on our website site. When we raise the money and purchase the masks, all donors will also be recognized upon presentation to each community Fire Department.

Donations may be in any dollar amount. The donations are tax deductible, as allowed by law and will be sent to Robin Brown at Obedience Dynamics. Each set will cost $55. and we are hoping to raise enough funds for at least 50 sets.

Once the sets are purchased, with the help of volunteers, the sets will then be presented to individual Fire Departments and posted on our site.

Hey pet lovers... if you missed this post or didn't read it through ~ It is a REALLY good cause!! I have two puppies at home and would be crushed if anything ever happened to either of them. I just wanted to make sure that everyone saw this post!!

How many pets are affected each year by......?

Thousands are affected each year by smoke inhalation and the proper equipment not being available to revive them.

So many times - in the case of a house fire - pets often become very afraid and confused and tend to hide. Which makes it difficult for rescue to find them and that just means it takes longer to get them out.....which results in smoke inhalation to be much worse.

That means death if the firemen don't have the resources to help. the animal.

And we can help!

Any dollar amount will help us reach the goal of equipping all downriver firetrucks with a set of recovery masks.

I can't imagine losing my dogs in a house fire from smoke inhalation....especially if I knew that there was a very good chance they could have been helped if the firetruck had the equipment.

I'm hoping lots of other people feel the same way.

My dog Brutus, whom many of you have seen in the picture of John wearing his new Bronni Vision glasses by the pool (listed on the Board here somewhere) is a rescued dog--of sorts.

I got him off the Internet from a family who could not keep him anymore and did not wish to send him to the dog pound. The family's youngest son had developed allergies and could not keep Brutus. They were giving him away on a chat group I belong to.

So, being a good Shaklee representative, I gave them an AirSource Mobile Unit in exchange for Brutus.
