1) If you wash and care for your vehicles yourself what products are you using? 2) What can I do to earn your business and get you using products from Danase Detailing Supply? I know we have a while before the nice weather comes and people get to wash their cars themself. I am just trying to figure out how I am going to get some DADBA member's business since my DADBA member sales have been a total of 3 since day one. I know we have people taking care of their own rides so I want to here your excuses.

Here's my excuse...I belong to this really great networking group and there's a guy that owns his own on-line detailing store who occasionally details cars. Since detailing is his passion, I let my van get really really dirty, then I have him detail it. I'm pretty sure he uses DANASE products on my van and my husband's car as well. Now, I might want to detail my own van at some point in the future, but he's so good at it, I figure I'll keep giving him the business. For those of you who don't have a guy in Wyandotte who owns his own on-line detailing store detailing your car, you should really check out DANASE.COM for some supplies so you can take good care of your car like he takes care of mine. I'm sorry if that's a lame excuse, Bob, but I really like it when that guy in Wyandotte cleans my van instead of me!!

Might be a good point brought up in that post. Who has time to wash and detail their own car? I do general cleanings in my car, mostly though I go to Ray`s for the $10 special, even in the summer. It is not detailed, they do a good cleaning, and it`s a lease and goes back next year anyway.

I have to confess--we're not very good at keeping our cars clean. Especially right now. I agree with Kevin though--Do you think if you were more visible and people knew better what you did, you might get more sales? I have met people at the meetings that have never used the board. Have you had one-on-one appointments with the people in DADBA whose business could use your supplies to demonstrate them and discuss them and working together. Just an idea--I don't know what things you've tried and what you haven't.

Bob, you should really come to the DADBA meetings, even the potlucks so that people will get to know you. Most people buy from those they know.

Keith, Basic-H2 washes everything, it is a 'green' product and is extremely safe. But guys are fussy about what they put on their cars, and Danase`has great products specific for vehicles.

I'm sure to start making the IBR's at least every other week. I had a Tuesday evening appointment every week that now went to every other week. Thanks for your honest input everyone.

I say let's take a survey--how many DADBA members actually know Bob? I mean personally have met him and have had a conversation with him. I say it's less than 30. We have about 400 members. Not good a strong percentage. This business 'game' is about making relationships. I believe that Bob needs to be active for those relationships to build into sales and return clients.

What I think we need to do, honestly, is get the members to start looking at the member's list for services before they head to Wal Mart. Maybe we need a printed list that gets updated ever month or so. Hell, I could do the list for the group if need be. I know I am a minority when it comes to meetings. It's honestly hard for me to get out to them. For those of you that don't really know me, I work full time and then do Danase in the evenings and ship on my lunch break. I did make it to one dinner meeting so far and that was it. My 2008 goal is to make more meetings though.

I know Bob - professionally first and now we're friends. He's one of my dadba buddies. I'd say I've gotten to know him better via email and this board, but meeting him in person was definitely the beginning. So, I'd have to agree, the more people you can meet personally, the better, but even that takes time. There are people that I've met a few times for the "first time" because they don't remember having met me before. Then again, there are those people that you click with right away and with those folks, I have learned about their businesses and honestly try to do business with them and find other ways to help them, often by referring others to them as well. They do the same for me and it's fantastic! Now, Rob, because I do consider Bob a friend (you cracked my code about the mystery detailer who owns an online detailing store -good job), I suffer all winter long with what some would call a filthy van. Bob probably has other adjectives to describe it, but to his credit, he never lets me hear them - I bet Amber has heard about it, though! I can't ask him to do anything with it until Spring, at which point, he'll need it for a couple of weeks! His products leave a very nice long lasting shine and rain water beads up and disappears - it's a real treat for me. After reading Bob's earlier post, I considered doing some detailing at home - which means making the boys wash and wax my van in the summer. Having tried that in the past, I've been a bit gun shy. Ethan is 8 now, though and getting pretty tall, so maybe I'll give them another shot at it with Bob's stuff. I just hated only having the bottom third of the car clean! Wow, sorry for the long post. Apparently, this thing never cuts you off....you can just type and type and type....

LOL Leanna, I've told you this before, your van was not bad at all! I can't even begin to describe some of the vehicles my ex business partner and I have done. He used to detail the interiors because he was not a paint guy and, not to toot my own horn, I always got the paint to look 100 times better than him. I honestly can't remember how many times I could hear him inside the car going, "WTF is this?!?!?" It's why I always recommend wearing rubber gloves when detailing. I always recommend it but rarely use them myself. Maybe that is something I'll change for 2008! LOL
