Well, I got myself in a little dilemma. I was raising the American flag at the office and somehow the rope got all tangled and broke. So I got my ladder out, and some window washing poles. I was going to try to snag it and bring it down.
I had my ladder resting on the pole about 25 feet up, one hand on the ladder, one hand on a couple of window washing poles ducktaped together waiting for the wind to be just right so I could catch the rope on a hook system that I designed on the end of the window equipment. So about 30 minutes at the top of the ladder. The wind is not cooperating.
Just then a unnamed company, and a unnamed individual came by, raised his bucket on his bucket truck to fix the problem. (can not disclose information because he can get in trouble from his company)
I was very grateful. I think every one at the office, and neighbors were grateful as they were holding the ladder while at the same time covering their eyes, not to see my demise.
So... Kudos to the bucket truck man. He fixed the rope and flagpole in 5 minutes flat. I offered him my appreciation and $50 he said,
"NO. I drove by here twice and I was on my way back to the shop and something compelled me to turn around. I am a veteran, and I can tell your a veteran also"
If you have not been to the office yet, you should come by and see Old Glory waiving on the 40ft pole. It is a beautiful thing, not only the flag, this country and the true American spirit that is still present in almost everyone I meet.
